Port Olry Days for Girls

Women and girls in the village of Port Olry have extremely limited access to funds to purchase feminine hygiene products. As such, they must use whatever products are accessible, or remain at home when they are experiencing their monthly cycle. Two Llamas provided 200 washable feminine hygiene kits to women and girls in the community of Port Olry on the island of Espiritu Santo.

Port Olry Face Painting

Face painting is a fun activity and expression of creativity that we largely  take for granted in developed countries. But - aside from painting faces and bodies with ochre for ceremonial purposes - it's something the children of Port Olry have never experienced. Two Llamas commissioned one of New Zealand's best face painters - Pilar Feijo - to help us brighten up the day for primary school kids in Port Olry recently

Port Olry Vision Clinic

There is no optometrist based on the island of Espiritu Santo and – unless a volunteer optometrist is visiting Luganville - people must fly to Port Vila to have their eyes tested and be fitted with glasses or contact lenses. We wanted to bring vision to those who were least able to get assistance: the elderly and young in the northern village of Port Olry; a community of 3000 people.

Gili Asahan Beach Clean

Indonesian waters are choking with trash. Some of this is ocean-borne; pushed towards the area by prevailing winds. Most however is the result of trash that is simply dropped on the ground and into creeks by villagers and off fishermen's boats. Our objective was to engage the community to clean a 200m stretch of beach and encourage the children to change their littering behaviour.

Matantas Aquaponics Trial

Two Llamas sought to investigate the issues that may arise if aquaponics was introduced to remote Ni-Vanuatu villages such as Matantas. Although many villages in Vanuatu have rich volcanic soils, there are many that have sandy, salt-soaked soils and limited access to water.

Port Olry Chicken Coop

The northern coastal village of Port Olry is home to approximately 3000 people and thousands of chickens. However, despite the ready source of protein, many children are poorly nourished. In a bid to help address this, Two Llamas and Vanuatu Agricultural College partnered to gift the kindy a chicken coop; complete with laying chooks flown all the way from New Zealand.

Port Olry Health Clinic Refurbishment

The village of Port Olry is located in the north of the island of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. It is the second largest village in the nation; home to approximately 3000 residents. Its health clinic services the village and all surrounding villages in the north, yet facilities and supplies were inadequate to service even the most basic needs; let alone facilitate the safe delivery of babies. Two Llamas decided to do something to help.

Port Olry Kindy Refurbishment

The northern coastal village of Port Oly is home to approximately 3000 people; many of whom are children. There is one Government-owned kindy catering to 83 children aged between 3 and 6 years of age. It lacked even the most basic of educational resources, so Two Llamas/ SUP Wilderness Adventures decided to so something to help.

Matantas Social Enterprise

The remote coastal village of Matantas is located in the far north of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. Home to approximately 250 people, there are no jobs in-country except for the processing of copra. Two Llamas wanted to help the community to develop a small-scale sustainable business that would allow the community to utilise existing natural resources to create a unique product for the Luganville and Port Olry markets.
